Framing Your Painting: A Complete Guide

A special painting deserves an equally special frame to complete the look! The right frame can complement the art while letting your personal style and taste shine through. In this guide, we’ll explore different frame styles and colors to help you make the perfect choice. Learn a little bit more about the frames and get all of your questions answered. Let’s get started!

Where does the frame come from?

I purchase all of my frames from a local art supply store, Reddi Arts, in Jacksonville, Florida. It is important that I support local business as a small business owner myself! When I pick up your frame from Reddi Arts, I ensure the frame is top quality and the frame is able to fully protect your painting.

These frames come with special protective elements like a certain type of glass and backing that will take care of your painting for years to come. This will help protect the painting from sun damage!

Frame Styles

*NOTE: The pictures below are not images of the exact frames themselves, they are just general examples of the various style options. Frame details and specifics are largely dependent on what frames are available and in stock.

SIMPLE TRADITIONAL FRAMES

For a timeless and classic look, a simple traditional frame is an excellent choice. These frames often feature clean lines and minimal embellishments, allowing the artwork to shine without distraction. They work wonderfully for paintings with soft or muted tones, adding an understated elegance to your display.

MODERN FRAMES

If you prefer a sleek and contemporary aesthetic, modern frames are a great option. These frames are typically minimalist, often with thin profiles and sharp edges. They pair beautifully with vibrant or abstract watercolor pieces, creating a fresh, gallery-inspired presentation.

VINTAGE FRAMES

For those who love a touch of nostalgia or rustic charm, vintage frames provide a unique, eye-catching option. These frames often feature intricate designs, ornate carvings, or distressed finishes, making them perfect for watercolor paintings with a whimsical or romantic feel.

Frame ColorS

WHITE FRAMES

A white frame offers a clean, neutral choice that can brighten the painting and draw attention to its details. White frames are versatile and work well with modern, minimalistic, or coastal-inspired interiors.

BLACK FRAMES

For a bold and dramatic look, a black frame creates a striking contrast with the softness of watercolor paintings. This choice is ideal for making the artwork stand out in a room with darker or monochromatic decor.

GOLD FRAMES

Gold frames exude luxury and sophistication, making them a timeless option for framing your painting. They’re particularly well-suited for traditional or vintage-inspired spaces and add a touch of elegance to the artwork.

WOOD FRAMES

Natural wood frames offer warmth and a sense of organic charm. Available in a range of finishes, from light oak to dark walnut, wood frames are versatile and can complement almost any painting or interior style.

MATTES

To ensure your painting looks its best, a white matte is included as the default option with every frame. A white matte provides a clean border between the artwork and the frame, creating a balanced and professional look. It’s a universally flattering choice that pairs seamlessly with all frame styles and colors, enhancing the painting’s visual impact.

On-site framing

If I am painting your piece live at an event, I’ll bring your frame with me once you choose it. And after I finish your live watercolor painting, I will frame your painting on-site so you’re able to see the finished product!

INTERESTED IN GETTING YOUR ACRYLIC PAINTING FRAMED?

All watercolor paintings come with a frame included in the price, and you can select from the variety of styles and colors above to suit your taste and decor. If you have an acrylic painting and are interested in getting it framed, you can purchase a custom frame at an additional cost. These frames are carefully crafted to complement the painting while providing a polished and finished look.

Acrylic paintings can be frame at your wedding or after! If you know you want your acrylic painting frame before your wedding, you can choose from the same style options above and I’ll bring with me just like the watercolor paintings (but, for an acrylic painting, it’s still an add on at an extra cost).

For framing afterward, this is only an option if you choose to pay for the varnish and shipping add on. Or, if you get the varnish and shipping add on, you can always decide later on to add the frame as well and can still choose from the same options!

Choosing the right frame for your watercolor painting is an important step in showcasing your artwork. Whether you opt for a simple traditional frame, a sleek modern design, or a vintage-inspired piece, the perfect frame will enhance the beauty of your painting and make it a cherished addition to your space.
